"Wildly inventive on a micro-budget scale... an impressively crafted feature that's full of frequent surprises"
"Gloriously goofy... And the charmingly offbeat turns seriously strange and then veers into the absurd"
"A fun ride"
Dave (Nick Thune), an artist who has yet to complete anything significant in his career, builds a fort in his living room out of pure frustration, only to wind up trapped by the fantastical pitfalls, booby traps, and critters of his own creation. Ignoring his warnings, Dave's girlfriend Annie (Meera Rohit Kumbhani) leads a band of oddball explorers on a rescue mission. Once inside, they find themselves trapped in an ever-changing supernatural world and pursued by a bloodthirsty Minotaur.
Dave Made A Maze is the Kaufmanesque horror rom-com set almost entirely in a cardboard labyrinth that we have all been waiting for. But if the group is to escape, they must learn cooperate or meet their fate within the walls of a maze made by Dave, who was just looking for something to achieve . This stunning feature-length debut from director Bill Watterson is an imaginative homage to classic '80s adventure films of the past and a twisted comedic take on achildhood fantasy come to life, with a higher body count. With Kirsten Vangsness, Stephanie Allynne, Adam Busch, James Urbaniak, and John Hennigan.
