"Homemakers...exerts a certain fascination with its spirited atmosphere and often quirky humor... Ultimately, however, it's [Rachel] McKeon's sexy and endlessly emotionally expressive turn that energizes the proceedings"
  —Hollywood Reporter
Recommended "[Irene McCabey and her character] are fucking amazing and fucking terrifying, at the risk of vast understatement. A life of blaze and haze in search of simple contentment, with dear human complexity, caught in a funny, ragged, raucous, even joyous capsule"
  —NewCity Chicago

Part-time Austin indie rocker, and full-time harbinger of chaos and destruction, Irene McCabey (Rachel McKeon) arrives in Pittsburgh to claim her inheritance: a crumbling, abandoned three-story row house built by her great-grandfather. With the help of Cam, a drinking buddy who happens to be her long lost cousin, Irene attempts a boozy restoration project. Together, they dive into a renovation that confuses drunken cut-ups, performance art, and good old American vandalism, as her newfound domestic instincts conflicts with her propensity for chaos. However, Irene discovers in the forgotten home a hidden urge to settle down—Irene-the-homewrecker changing into Irene-the-homemaker—may not be strong enough to subdue the rampaging child within.

With a line on absurd physical, writer-director Colin Healey's first feature shows an infectious zest for the dust and mayhem of creating any kind of life.

Directed by Colin Healey, 2014, U.S.A., 85 mins.
