"Aridjis invests her first fiction feature with rewarding depths of humor and feeling" -Variety
Tip of the Week! "A keenly acted melodrama...Aridjis works quietly, subtly, systematically toward a touching portrait of family that's built rather than born." -NewCity Chicago

Lawrence (Frank Wood), an unmarried photographer living in New Jersey, receives a phone call from a woman who broke his heart 25 years ago. A week later, he has loved her and lost her all over again, and her troubled teenage son (Ryan Donowho) is living with him. Their strained relationship spirals downward as Johnny's troubles escalate, and despite the valiant efforts of his attempts to connect with Johnny, they cannot seem to get over the "you're not my real father" hurdle. In her feature film directorial debut, Eva Aridjis (Children of the Street) has crafted an intricately paced tale of loneliness, love, loss, and sacrifice. The Favor is an intimate family drama that explores the fabric of human relationships and what we will do for the ones we love.
Directed by Eva Aridjis, U.S.A., 2006, BetaSP, 110 mins.
