WHY STOP NOW?
½ "How did this one get under the radar?... [Jesse] Eisenberg is pitch-perfect" -Roger Ebert
"It's fast-paced and driven by Eisenberg...again finding varying dimensions in a twitchy character" -RedEye
Why Stop Now? is the bittersweet story of piano prodigy Eli Smith (Jessie
Eisenberg, The Social Network) and his mother Penny (Melissa Leo, The
Fighter), who despite her cheerful disposition is struggling with drug
addiction. Eli wants to audition for a prestigious music program, and must
get his mother to go to rehab, but things do not go as planned. Penny is
turned away from rehab because her test was clean and she does not have
insurance for voluntary admission. Privately, a staffer tells her the only
way she will be admitted is to go get high and re-test, so they must enlist
the help of his mother's drug dealer, Sprinkles (Tracy Morgan, 30 Rock), and
events spin out of control.
This mismatched team of misfits navigate one
twist and turn after another to hilarious effect, as they mutually face the
mistakes of the past, the challenges of the future and the possibility of
reconciliation. As the pressure to be the responsible adult weighs heavily upon
his shoulders, Eli struggles to salvage his past and what is left of his
family while looking towards his future and the opportunity to leave it all
