"A subtle and absorbing character study" Hollywood Reporter
The Bad Intentions is an absorbing and darkly poetic film that deals with the devastating manifestations of sibling resentment that develops when a young girl convinces herself that the birth of her brother will end her life. Cayetana (Fatima Buntinx) lives a privileged existence in a sprawling mansion in Perú with a group of caretakers. It is 1982, but the turmoil of that time is of little importance to this strange little girl. Cayetana's main obsession is the baby brother her pregnant mother is carrying and this fixation becomes dangerous and all-consuming. She slips into fantasies with Peruvian war heroes to find acceptance and existence far from her realitya life of neglect expressed in her malicious behavior, devious planning and cruel wishes.
Directed by Rosario Garcia-Montero, Peru/Argentina/Germany, 2011, 107 mins. In Spanish with English subtitles.
