"Amusingly laid back...rousingly idealistic." -Chicago Tribune
"Critics Choice! A highly entertaining form of ecological agitprop -- radical but accessible." -Chicago Reader
Go Further, the new film by award-winning documentary filmmaker Ron Mann
(Grass, Comic Book Confidential), explores the idea that the single
individual is the key to large-scale transformational change. Calling his
new movie an "Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test on Tofu," the film follows
actor Woody Harrelson, as he pilots a hemp oil-fueled bus, with a small
group of friends (his modern day "Merry Hempsters"), on a eco-consciousness
raising incursion down the beautiful Pacific Coast Highway, hoping to
demonstrate that there are viable alternatives to environmentally
destructive behaviors. Mann pulls off the delicate feat of presenting this
journey with a great sense of fun, and shows us a humble Harrelson spreading
his gospel with both humor and humility, extolling sustainable development
and conscious living. With appearances and music by Dave Mathews, Natalie Merchant, Ken Kesey, Bob
Weir, Michael Franti, Anthony Keidis, Medeski, Martin & Wood and String
Cheese Incident. Directed by Ron Mann, Canada, 2003, 35mm, 80 mins.
