"Sol Tryon's dark, irrepressibly hilarious fable offers highbrow absurdism and low-budget filmmaking at their most clever and outlandish" -TimeOut NY
"It's relentlessly silly and utterly idiosyncratic" -TimeOut Chicago
"The absurdist dialogue sparkles with wit, the rustic Maine setting looks like a page out of Thomas Hardy, and the whimsical humor artfully tempers what is a poignant study on death and delusion" -Chicago Sun-Times
"The talented Jesse Eisenberg...contributes a deftly comic and unexpectedly tender performance" -Chicago Reader
"Eisenberg is soft-spoken and amusingly unassuming, delivering a pitch-perfect performance that quietly highlights the main character's fatal flaws" -LA Weekly
The Living Wake is a dark comedy is about a self-proclaimed artist and genius, K. Roth Binew (writer Mike O’Connell), who has one day to live. He has enlisted his best and only friend, Mills Joquin (Jesse Eisenberg, Adventureland, The Squid and the Whale), to take him around on a bicycle powered rickshaw and in a final attempt to probe life's deepest mysteries, Binew endures one ridiculous trial after the next. He concludes his day with a final performance, his living wake, and on a makeshift stage in an open field, Binew's friends and enemies gather to witness his madness one final time. A completely original and charming comedy, The Living Wake is a film for everyone that knows, no matter what the evidence to the contrary, that they are the stars of their own stories. Also, featuring Ann Dowd and Jim Gaffigan.
