"A picture of modern workaday France that's anti-romantic and that gives you creeps and chills as you watch it" -Chicago Tribune

"An unsettling tale of white-collar paranoia that makes striking use of the geometry of public space" -The Onion
"A wonder to behold" -Time Out Chicago
"Alnoy's coldly assured 2003 melodrama is an eerie, clinical gem, dreamy and disquieting, a kind of inner road movie set in provincial France." -New City Chicago
A clinical, disturbing portrait of Christine (a breakout performance by Sasha Andres), a thirtysomething temp office worker who seems unable to connect with her co-workers, or anyone else in her life. Though Christine seems outwardly normal, she is intensely alienated and disconnected from her environment, and desperate to find some form of contact. When she becomes friends with her office superior, Christine feels that a meaningful connection has been made, but when this relationship fails, Christine begins to really unravel, with tragic consequences. Filmmaker Alnoy brings a rigorous and formal sensibility to her film's hyper-real images, as she expertly crafts a visual environment that heightens her protagonist's sense of social dislocation and deepening psychological rupture.
Directed by Siegrid Alnoy, France, 2003, 35mm, 102 mins. In French with English subtitles.
