"A mix of dreams, nightmares, fears and sexuality, filtered through a mordant Belgian sensibility." -Variety
A bizarre mix of David Lynch, David Cronenberg, Terry Gilliam, and the Quay Brothers, this inscrutable but visually stunning fantasy focuses on an entomologist who divides his time between cataloguing dead insects at a Kafkaesque museum and trying to come to terms with assorted childhood traumas. As long as people can remember, the sun only releases a few rays of light for fifteen seconds before noon and the rest of the time is a world that has been plunged into a night without end, a permanent eclipse. Then there's also that naked African woman who has mysteriously turned up in his bed at home. Directed by Olivier Smolders, Belgium/Netherlands/France, 2005, 35mm, 92 mins. In French with English subtitles.
