Ravi lives his life by the pie-chart his mother defines for him – 60% education and only 2.9% for fun! When Ravi and his friends, Hamid and Onka, find a camera left behind by an American tourist, they seize their chance to make their dreams come true by making a Bollywood film. They also have to write a ransom note, cast a heroine, use their creativity to keep their friends involved during the stressful exam season and make sure that Ravi's mom does not find out! During his movie-making quest, Ravi accidentally captures some truthful moments which gets revealed in a party where everyone suddenly sees on the screen who they are and what they represent.
After 14 years of working in feature animation at Disney, on projects like Pocahontas and Fantasia 2000, Umakanth Thumrugoti turned his focus toward the production of this feature film debut. Set in a middle-class India, 7 Days in Slow Motion deftly balances humor with life lessons to tell an important while capturing a child's eye view of an often incomprehensible world dominated by adults.
Directed by Umakanth Thumrugoti, India, 2009, 35mm, 100 mins. In Hindi and English with English subtitles.
