Adrián (Daniel Hendler) is a secular Jewish man. Leonora (Natalia Oreiro) is a quasi-secular Catholic woman. They are getting married and love will conquer all. Or will it? Best laid plans quickly unravel into farce in this charming and effervescent romantic comedy.
Adrián's big day becomes a gigantic disaster as he spends the hours leading up to the ceremony desperately trying to postpone the wedding. With lost sacred rings, religious tensions between families, a priest, a rabbi, a senile grandparent and troublemaking ex-lovers, the wedding day rapidly descends into chaos.
My First Wedding is reminiscent of Judd Apatow films, laden with jokes and situational humour. The charismatic Hendler (winner of the Silver Bear at Berlin for Lost Embrace, 2004) is better known for his darker roles, but here both he and the stunning Natalia Oreiro deliver sensational comedic performances.
