FRAME UP: AN AFTERNOON WITH JON JOST
Over Here (2007)
Mr. Right (2008)
Born in Chicago on May 16, 1943, of a military family, Jon Jost grew up in Georgia, Kansas, Japan, Italy, Germany and Virginia. Expelled from college in 1962, he began making 16mm films in January, 1963. Staunchly independent, a maverick, prolific and outspoken, Jon Jost defines what it means to be a "filmmaker" and a true "independent." He has made some 30 feature-length films (film and digital) and some 30+ short works, plus a few long (hour + installation works), all of which he has conceived, written, photographed, directed and edited; most of these he also produced. Jost, the first recipient of the John Cassavetes Award for Lifetime Achievement as an Independent Filmmaker, has been making award-winning and challenging films since 1963 and he has been featured in major film festivals around the world.
