A loose sequel to the King of Velichovky, Daddy and Lili Marlene tells the intimate story of Karel Saisser's daughter and her husband from the perspective of their daughter, Eva.

Eva's mother was Karel's beautiful and vivacious oldest daughter, Lili, who fell in love with a young dentist from Prague. Eva affectionately remembers the years that her parents lived in Velichovky and Prague, as well as her love for the wartime song, "Lili Marlene," which she associates with her mother.

Eva's fond reminiscences lead to traumas and tragedies, though. She recalls Lili's fall to the temptations of Prague and her subsequent isolation from her family. This led Eva to become very attached to her father, whom she never called anything but "Daddy." Eva also details the post-war arrival of Communism, which impacted her more than the entirety of WWII.
