Statuary of Granddad Vinda is the story of sculptor, non-conformist and eccentric Vincenc Havel who lived in the Opava region of North Moravia. His filmed memories depict an interesting personality firmly anchored in the milieu of 1950s.

In the '50s, Havel's sculpture of Communist President Klement Gottwald brought him acknowledgement from the state, but also undue envy. The spotlight led the unique, often difficult personality of Havel to retreat to his home/studio, which served as his fortification from the outside world. There, he became uncompromising in the upbringing of his daughter, which became a heavy burden for him later in life.

Ultimately, Vincenc Havel's entire life was a fight for appreciation, which, unfortunately, did not come.
