King of Velichovky
King of Velichovky is the true story of Karel Saisser, who lived in Velichovky on the Czech-German border in 1930s and 1940s.
Karel was a farmer by heart and soul. He owned fields and woods that he farmed, reinvesting the earnings into the farmstead. Karel became successful, allowing him to live well, keeping horses for pleasure and making car trips to Prague and Berlin.
Karel and his wife had three daughters, Lili, Edita and Ria, each of whom lived happy lives, as well, and married according to her wishes. Lila married a Czech doctor; Ria, a German clerk; and Edita, a German general.
Karel Saisser and family lived a dream-come-true. But that soon changed.
Though the Saissers were German, everything in their lives in the Sudetenland was half Czech and half German. They had no problems with that -- until the end WWII when the whole family was deported to Germany.
