Film screenings and media education sessions for students from pre-school through high-school are a cornerstone of the Chicago International Children's Film Festival. Held on weekday mornings in multiple North and South Side Chicago locations, all screenings are geared towards specific age groups and tackle important social and learning issues. With over 40 countries represented at the Festival, this is the best way for students to connect to global culture.
At each screening during the Chicago International Children's Film Festival, stimulating pre- and post-film discussions are led by the Festival's trained media educators. The Festival also welcomes dozens of international filmmakers who lead interactive Q&As following many screenings.
If you would like to expand your group screening experience, we also offer an extended immersion package. This includes a 4590 minute media education seminar along with handouts and screening clips. Topics discussed will include film and media vocabulary, different approaches to filmmaking, story development and script writing techniques, and instruction on how to brainstorm creative project.
